WWE Monday Night Raw Results 8/25/08
August 27, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment
Good evening, and welcome to WWE RAW on SCI-FI!!!
We have Batista VS Kane tonight!!!
CM Punk vs JBL for World Heavyweight Championship
The match starts slowly with JBL taking the early advantage with a lot of holds and a few hard body shots. Punk counters with with some nice sharp kicks, but it is short lived as JBL gains the advantage once again. He slows the pace of the match once again with a few nice holds and a couple of hard shots again. E goes for a high boot to the head, punk ducks out of the way, and goes to town on JBL. The delivers several sharp kicks, including a few in the corner. He drop kicks JBL out of the ring, and follows with a nicely executed suicide plancha into the announce table as we go to the commercial.
After commercial, JBL has Punk in a bear hug, then delivers a nice release belly to back, followed by a shot suplex for a quick 2. JBL starts using an abdominal stretch and slows the match again. He rolls Punk back for another 2 count. Hard short clothesline, another 2. JBL foaming a bit from the mouth, and Punk starts to fight back, but to no avail. JBL lifts punk into the torture rack, but he reverses with a spinning heal kick, that is caught, and Punk gets a sidewalk slam for his troubles. JBL with the slow pace, lifts Punk to the top turnbuckle, smacks him a few times, climbs up to the second rope, but his suplex attempt is reversed into a very high impact DDT by Punk for 2. Punk delivers a nice 1-2-3 combo, followed by a spin kick, the a flying cross body from the top rope for 2 ¾. High Knee, bulldog, and another 2 ¾. The GTS attempt is reversed into a Clothesline from Hell. Covers Punk, 1-2… Punk grabs the bottom rope!!! JBL looks bewildered, leaves the ring, grabs a chair, heads back in, but the ref, Chad Patton grabs it, and Punk hits JBL with the Go To Sleep for the 3!!! Great ending!!! This was a PPV caliber match!! Punk is showing why he is the champ every week.
The CM Punk / JBL angle is starting to get old now. The match was magnificent, though, and the two definitely work very well together.
Winner: CM Punk
4 ½ stars out of 5….
We return from commercial, and Mike Adamle is making an announcement. He shows on the TitanTron some footage from SummerSlam of Batista vs. Cena. She shot shows repeated Batista Bombs to Cena, and Adamle reports that he has extremely herniated discs, and will require surgery, and will be gone indefinitely. Adamle reports that he will name his replacement by night’s end.
Kane cuts a promo about what he’s done Rey Mysterio Jr.
Next shot shows Adamle speaking with Carlos Colon, who says he’s better than Carlito, and that Carlito is a jerk to everyone, including his family.
HBK comes in and asks for some time to prepare for Jericho tonight. Adamle asks how is Rebecca, and is answered by nothing but a cold stare.
Beth Phoenix vs. Kelly Kelly in a non-title match
Kelly Kelly’s music brings us back from break, and she is introduced. Beth Phoenix is introduced, and makes her way to the ring with Santino in tow. Kelly Starts with a headlock, and is lifted to the top rope by Beth. Kelly delivers a kick to the midsection, and after busting Beth’s nose, she gets on the receiving end of a quite vicious beating. He nose is bleeding too heavily for it to be broken, but I am sure that it will develop into that angle soon. Kelly whips Beth into the corner, and attempts to do a back flipping back elbow, but Santino pulls Beth out of the way. She chastises Santino, and Kelly school boys her for the 1-2-3!!!
Winner of the match: Kelly Kelly
Match gets 2 ¾ stars out of 5
After the match, Beth takes Santino down and starts to beat on him, sending him back to the dressing room.
Charlie Haas vs. Primo Colon
Carlito’s music hits, and he is introduced, being billed from Dallas Texas???? They call him “Charlito”… this is Charlie Haas with a bad wig, and an even worse accent. Primo Colon is introduced, and comes into the ring asking “what the hell is this”. Charlie slaps him into the corner, but Primo reverses, and delivers a hurricanrana. Charlie hits Primo with a VERY hard clothesline for 2. Haas with a few hard kicks, the a high side suplex. Rear chin lock applied by Haas. Haas grabs an apple, and starts chewing it, walks toward Primo, and is met with a hard right hand. Primo gets busy with a few dropkicks, a monkey flip, and a splash attempt that misses. Primo hits a flying high cross body and gets the pin… on a high cross body??? What?? Oh well. I guess he has no ending move yet.
Winner: Primo Colon
2 stars out of 5
HBK is shown walking toward the ring as we go to commercial.
We come back to Raw to a replay of SummerSlam’s promo between HBK and Chris Jericho.
Silence, then a HUGE (understatement of the night here) pop for Michaels, who walks out slowly to the ring. No fireworks, no jumping around, no posing…. just Shawn in his cowboy hat, a huge frown, and an attitude. He says nothing for a moment. He says that his wife Rebecca is hurt, but after being married to him for 10 years, she’s tough and will be okay. He says that he tried to believe that it was an accident, but, after watching Jericho on Raw last week with no remorse, he couldn’t do it. He said that the reason that he didn’t turn in his letter of resignation was because it would be too hard to say goodbye. He said that he looked at Rebecca and knew that he was not going anywhere (HUGE POP again)… then Jericho is on the TitanTron. Jericho says that he was asked to not appear on Raw, and that HBK was lucky for that. He says that the last time they fought, HBK walked out of the ring, but next time he’d not leave the ring at all. Says that HBK only wants the match so that he can sue WWE for what Jericho does to him. HBK says that he would go to jail for what he wants to do to Jericho. Said that he would sign any forms necessary for the match… no rules, etc. Jericho accepts the match, but warns HBK to not allow his wife and kids to watch the match. HBK says that his only goal is this one thing :an eye for an eye.
Promo rating 3 ½ stars out of 5. It would have been better, but, it was too long, and HBK is just too funny to pull of the psycho bit effectively… if it were a HHH or Kane, it would have been better received, I think.
Ted DiBiase, Jr and Cody Rhodes vs. Jerry Lawler and Jim Duggan
We come back to Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes being introduced. They walk in without their belts, which were lifted by Cryme Tyme last week. The are visibly distracted by this. Their opponents, “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan and Jerry “The King” Lawler come to the ring.
Rhodes and King start it off, but, Rhodes tags DiBiase immediately. DiBiase with a back body drop on King, who returns the favor. DiBiase delivers a few hard shots, and King reverses a body drop. Double team by Rhodes and DiBiase on King after the tag. Rhodes maintains control of a side headlock and arm lock for a while, then answers some punches with a suplex on the King. He slaps King across the face, which cases King to get mad. He beats on Rhodes, then on DiBiase for a sec, then tags in Duggan who cleans house. Power slam… kinda, into a football stance / clothesline. Rhodes breaks the pin, King comes in for the save, and DiBiase his Duggan with that combination “Million Dollar Dream” / Russian leg sweep, hooks both of Duggan’s legs, and this match is over.
Initially, I thought the match was over too quickly, however, they needed it to be short for the upcoming promo. Duggan looked really bad, but Lawler was still very good.
Winners: Ted DiBiase, Jr and Cody Rhodes
Match rating: 2 ½ stars out of 5.
They grab a Mic, and threaten Cryme Tyme. Rhodes told Cryme Tyme that in the WWE, you win championships, not steal them, and they could never do that.
Cryme Tyme is in the stands with the belts. They introduce themselves, and tell Rhodes and DiBiase that they “borrowed” the belts so that they could get a match at Unforgiven. Wow… Shad Gaspar is REALLY bad on the Mic. DiBiase accepts the challenge. The promo is weak to say the least.
Rating 1 ½ stars out of 5, and this leads to a commercial…. Carlito VS Kofi is next.
Batista is in an interview when we return. He says that the match at SummerSlam was one of the toughest if his career. He says that he has nothing but respect for Cena, and hopes he comes back soon. He then says that he’s not intimidated by Kane, and he will win back his belt at SummerSlam, and says that tonight is personal.
Santino Marella vs. Kofi Kingston for the Intercontinental Championship
Santino is introduced first, and the replay of the end of Beth and Kelly’s match is shown. Kofi comes out to a small but respectful ovation. Kofi stars with a schoolboy for 1. He goes to an arm bar. Sholder block by Santino, then a high spin kick by Kofi. Kofi monkey flips Santino, delivers a shoulder, then an uppercut to Santino, then misses a back high cross body. Santino goes to work on Kofi with a face buster for 2. He applies a abdominal stretch which is reversed, and Kofi is flying around the ring again and again. He drops his boots across the chest of Santino, and Santino runs from the ring. Beth stops him, and makes him go back into the ring. Kofi backs into the ropes, Beth grabs his foot, he does a face splash onto the mat, and Santino covers for the pin. Beth and Santino kiss one another in their weird ways, and they leave the ring. Lawler says “This is like Beauty and the Beast, except Santino is the beauty!!!” The ending of the match really sucks, because the action was fantastic. These two worked really well together, and and start to finish match with a clean finish would be very interesting to watch.
Winner: Santino Marella
Match gets 3 ½ stars out of 5. Would be better if the ending didn’t suck.
Mike Adamle comes out and announces that Rey Mysterio, Jr. will be Cena’s replacement, which seems odd considering Kane’s comments lately.
After previewing the upcoming PPV, Batista is show walking to the ring. He faces Kane next!!!
Batista vs. Kane
Batista comes to the ring first to a nice pop, incidentally trips over the 2nd rope coming into the ring, and they show the cover of Muscle and Fitness with Batista on it. Kane is introduced, and comes to the ring with a sick smile on his face. They go back and forth, and Kane takes the early advantage. Kane is HUGE!!! Batista is a big man, but he looks small beside Kane. Batista starts working on the arm of Kane. They go to the mat, and the pace is really slow at the moment. Batista continues to work on the arm of Kane. A couple of big right hands by Batista, some shoulders, another right and Kane drives Batista into the corner. Kane pushes Batista off of the Batista bomb attempt, but gets a clothesline out of the ring. Kane goes outside of the ring and throws a fit. This leads to a commercial break.
Back from the break, Kane has Batista in a rear chin lock. Batista gets to his feet, whips Kane to the ropes, elbows, then kicks Kane in the head. He stalks for the spear, but Kane uppercuts. He attempts the choke slam, Batista counters, then Kane dropkicks the injured knee of Batista. He wraps the knee around the apron, then goes to work on it with repeated elbow drops, then an ankle lock. Kane with a knee breaker on Batista, still very slow pace. Kane continues to work the knee. Boot to the temple by Kane. Kane goes right back to the knee. Batista to his feet, but Kane kicks the knee again. They go out, and Kane kicks the knee against the ring steps. Batista starts to fight back. He attacks with huge right hands, and an ax-handle to the back of the head. Kane hits the knee again. He picks Batista us by the foot, and slams his knee into the ring… Batista weighs 300 easily, and Kane picked him up like he was 110. Batista reverses the knee lock with an arm lock, but Kane gets to the ropes. Kane chop blocks the back of the knee. Batista explodes with a clothesline. Both are slow to get up. Kane up first, charges Batista in the corner, misses, and Batista with a strong scoop slam on Kane. Kane with another charge into the corner that fails. He gets a drop toe-hold into the turnbuckle. Batista charges not once, but twice. The second time, caught in a choke hold. Batista reverses into a Spinebuster, goes for the Batista bomb, Kane to the knee. Kane wraps Batista’s knee around the ring post and grabs a chair. He his Batista’s knee against the ring post with the chair repeated drawing the DQ. Kane with a sick smile. He comes into the ring with the chair, tries to hit Batista with it, and gets kicked in the face. Batista with a spear on Kane, and gets the chair. He hits Kane in the back twice, and wraps his leg around the ring post, and hits it with a chair. He hits Kane’s knee 5 times before collapsing. The show ends with Batista on his back, and Kane getting to his knees in the ring.
Winner of the Match by DQ: Batista
Match gets 3 ¾ stars out of 5… would have been higher, but the DQ killed it for me.
Tonight’s show gets 3 ½ stars out of 5. There wasn’t enough action, but this is par for the course leading up to a PPV. Great buildup for Unforgiven, but a lot more could have been done.
Highlight of the night: CM Punk’s victory over JBL
Low-point of the night: Cryme Tyme’s mic work… ewwwwww.
Thanks for reading my post tonight! I look forward to many more posts in the future.
WWE News: Update On Mick Foley’s Contract Expiring: Unhappy, Possibly Leaving
August 5, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment
Source: prowrestling.net
As we reported here earlier this week, Mick Foley has been unhappy with his role as color commentator on SmackDown! and is considering leaving WWE when his contract expires in the coming weeks. There has been talk of holding him off television this week to sell the angle he did with Edge at the end of last week’s Smackdown, but it should be noted that the Edge angle was not specifically written as a way to get Foley off television.
The main factor contributing to Foley’s unhappiness is Vince McMahon yelling into his headset during SmackDown! broadcasts. McMahon regularly feeds lines to and communicates with WWE announcers while they are working and Foley is said to be at the end of his rope.
There was an incident that took place several months back while Mick Foley was calling SmackDown! with Michael Cole. Foley felt that Vince got so out of line with his yelling that he called Vince later that night to discuss the situation. Although sources indicate that Vince has toned i down while producing Foley since then, Mick is still bothered by the way he and other announcers have been produced.
Foley is expected to appear at SummerSlam in some capacity, but that show is being seen as a possible end-date for Foley if he chooses not to sign a new deal the company.

WWE House Show Results from Evansville, Indiana 8/2/08

Matt Prater’s August 2nd RAW House Show from Evansville, IN Review
Howard Finkle was the ring announcer and Jillian Hall was the hostess (she
was in the crowd and gave a couple of people in the nosebleeds some
ringside seats and allowed a kid to be Mickie James’ manager).
* Kofi Kingston vs. Paul Burchall (w/ Katie Lea)*
-This was a good, fast paced match. Kofi won with his finisher.
* Snitsky vs. DLo Brown*
-At the end of the match, Dlo went for the Low Down and Snitsky rolled out
of the way. When they returned to their feet, Snitsky hit the running big
boot and got the win. That was surprising, considering that Snitsky never
wins anymore and DLo just made his return.
*
Lance Cade vs. Paul London*
-This match was pretty fast paced. At one point during the match, Cade got
his nose busted open and was bleeding pretty bad. Cade won the match with
his finisher. After the match, refs came into the ring to disinfect the
ring.
*
Mickie James & Kelly Kelly vs. Burchall & Beth Phoenix*
-This was a good match. They allowed a fan to be Mickie James’ manager for
the evening. In the end, Mickie James got the win with her jumping DDT.
Santino came to the ring and got the microphone and Beth was still in the
ring. He told her she has lost her focus because she has been distracted
since they kissed a week ago. He then said that he was going to retire his
opponent after the match.
* Hacksaw Jim Duggan vs. Santino Marella*
-This match lasted about 10 seconds as Hacksaw hit the 3 point stance and
got the win. After the match, Beth Phoenix put Santino on her shoulder and
carried him out.
* Intermission* – During the intermission, my friend went to the concession
stand. There was a long line, so he didn’t get back in time for the next
match, but he met Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat walking around and that made
his day. My friend said that when Kane’s music hit all the little kids
came running back into the arena and then when Batista’s music hit, every
little kid that was left ran back in as soon as they could.
Jillian came out to the ring and said she was going to give the crowd a
gift. She then started singing, but was cut off by Kane’s music.
* Kane vs. Batista*
-This match got off to a REALLY slow start. They literally walked around in
circles with no action for a few minutes. When my friend got back to his
seat, he asked if he missed anything and I was like, “what you’re seeing
right now is all that has happened.” When the match finally got going, it
was actually decent. They made their way outside and used the steel steps
a couple of times. At the end of the match, Kane hit the chokeslam, but
Batista kicked out after a 2 count. Kane went to get his bag and the ref
tried to take it away and Batista speared Kane to pick up the victory.
* John Cena vs. Ted Dibiase Jr. & Cody Rhodes in a Handicap Match*
-Finkle said that RAW GM Mike Adamle ruled this to be a Handicap match. In
the end, Cena won with the STFU. I personally thought it was a bad idea to
have Cena squash the tag champs, but oh well. After the match, Cryme Tyme
entered the ring to help Cena and Cena FUed Dibiase Jr.
* CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho in a No DQ Match for the Title*
-They had been urging the fans to send in a text message to vote on the
match stipulations throughout the night. The choices were something I
can’t remember, 2 out of 3 Falls, and a No DQ match. I have been to enough
House Shows to know that the “fans” always choose the third option, so it
was a No DQ match.
Even though it was supposed to be a No DQ Match, the ref prevented Cade from
getting involved. When it spilled to the outside, the ref urged them to get
back into the ring. It was a good match, but the No DQ stupidity killed it
for me. Personally, I would have prefered a 2 out of 3 Falls match.
Anyway, during the match, Punk went for the GTS, but Y2J raked his eyes
and put him in the Walls of Jericho. Punk reached the ropes. In the end,
Jericho grabbed a chair (and the ref tried to stop him) and Punk kicked the
chair in his face and hit the GTS for the win. Punk celebrated by holding
the title up in the corner and bowing to the fans.
* Biggest Pops:*
John Cena (even though it was mixed, he still got the loudest reaction,
mostly positive)
Batista
CM Punk
Kane
*Biggest Heat:*
Jericho (for ranting on HBK)
Santino
Report sent in by Derek
I attended tonights RAW house show at the beautiful but slightly ran down Roberts Stadium in Evansville, Indiana. It was my son’s first WWE live event and he had a great time watching the action from our second row seats. Anyway. here are the results to best of my memory.
Opening match was Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston against Paul Burchill. It was back and forth but Kofi hit his finisher for the win. We all won since Katie Lee Burchill was at ringside.
The next match was D-Lo Brown against Snitsky. It warmed my heart to see D-Lo, minus his protective vest, facing ol’ yellow teeth. Too bad for D-Lo that Snits had his a-game on tonight and beat the crap out of D-Lo after mising a frogsplash. Snitsky was nice enough to pose post victory with a grin to show us his yellow teeth.
Lance Cade came out and reminded us that we were all crap and the only person he could trust besides himself was Chris Jericho. Good luck with that Lance. Anyway, Paul London made his way down to the ring and put up a decent fight for a guy who has been moved to jobber role. He was even kind enough to break open Cade’s nose bridge and give us a fair amount of blood flow. Cade hit his finisher and promptly left the ring while the refs scrubbed his blood out of the mat.
Next up was a Divas tag team match, Mickie James and Kelly Kelly (along with some random kid as guest manager) against Katie Burchill and Beth Phoenix. How it ended exactly I can’t remember, but I think James pinned Burchill. Lots of hooting and hollaring during this match.
Then of course we have Santino come out and face off with Beth Phoenix, telling her she was distracted and that he would retire an old man that night with his new hold the Santino clutch. Anyway, the old man was Hacksaw Jim Duggan who came out with US flag and chanting USA. To make a short story shorter, he pinned Santino in about twelve seconds. Hacksaw left and Beth Phoenix carried out Santino like a sack of potatoes.
Intermission
Kane vs. Batsista. A back and forth macth with Kane getting most of the offense. Until Kane goes for his bag that he is keeping his mask in (come on, you know it is his mask) and Batista hits the spear for the pin.
The next match is a handicap match between Cena and the tag champs Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jr. I have never wanted to jump the rail more than now at a wrestling match. I hate Cody Rhodes. Rhodes and DiBiase dominate Cena for awhile and then Cena fights back, puts Rhodes in the STF and wins. Then Crime Time hits the ring to even things up. Cena and the Crime Time pose and leave. What no witty John Cena promo????
Finally the main event. CM Punk defends his title against Chris Jericho in a No DQ match. Supposedly we fans texted in our votes and chose this match. Jericho started out with grabbing the mic and telling us we were all garbage and he would do to all the men , women and children (and maybe your pet dog) what he did to HBK . He then called down Lance Cade and the match was on. It was back and forth with everything from Jerich baring a turnbuckle to Punk throwing Jericho into the crowd but the end came as already before. Jericho grabs a chhair, Punk dropkciks it into Jericho’s head and then hits the GTS for the win. Punk is my kids’ new favorite wrestler. And Katie Le Burchill is mine.
Fun show, lots of stuff going on with Jillian Hall running around in a short black dress. She even sang for us, and I like her singing. Maybe not but I do like her. Anyway that was the Raw house show for Evansville, Indiana on 8/02/08
Report sent in by Tony Clutter
I went to the Evansville, Indiana WWE RAW house show and here’s what happened:

Snitsky beat DLO Brown
Lance Cade beat Paul London
Mickie James and Kelly Kelly beat Katie Lea and Beth Phoenix
Hacksaw Jim Duggan beat Santino in like a 5 second match
then Beth Phoenix picked up Santino and carried him out.
Batista beat Kane.
By order of new GM Mike Adamle it is a Handicap match
as John Cena beat Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase Jr
In a world title match CM Punk beat Y2J
Howard Finkle and Arn Anderson was seen also.
It was a lot of fun it was my 2nd WWE event ever!

WWE Raw house show results
Springfield, IL Prairie Capital Convention Center
August 1, 2008
I thought this show was much better than the Smackdown show I saw last September. Here are the results.
Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston beat Paul Burchill with the Trouble in Paradise spin kick to retain the title. A good, albeit, somewhat short match.
Snitsky beat Hacksaw Jim Duggan with a big boot. This was basically a squash. Duggan got very little offense in but the crowd loved him like always.
Lance Cade beat Paul London with his Rock Bottom/powerbomb finisher. Cade did some mic work before the match.
Women’s Champion Mickie James beat Beth Phoenix with her DDT to retain the title in a typical match between the two. A kid was selected earlier in the night to be the guest manager for Mickie James. Afterwards, Santino Marella did some mic work which lead to the next match.
D-Lo Brown beat Santino Marella with the frog splash
Intermission
Batista beat Kane with a spear after Kane was preoccupied with that bag he’s been carrying around. A slow match in the beginning that got better late with both hitting their signature moves along with several near falls. Another kid was picked to be the bell ringer for this match.
John Cena beat World Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Ted Dibiase in a handicapped match when he made Dibiase tap out to the STFU. Cena hit all his signature moves and hit an FU after the match and celebrated with Cryme Tyme. No mic work by any of them.
World Champion CM Punk beat Chris Jericho in a no disqualification match with the GTS after hitting Jericho with a chair that Jericho had intended to use on Punk. Fans got to vote on the stipulation for the match. Either Falls Count Anywhere, Best 2 out of 3 Falls, or no DQ. I think they knew which one it was going to be without the so-called voting. Text messaging sucks and is overrated. Both Lance Cade and Jericho did some mic work before Punk came out. Jericho kept stalling and Punk got on the mic and said he’d let the fans in Springfield beat up Jericho after he’s done beating him up. After the match, Punk told the crowd he’s a 200 plus pounder from Chicago but the Springfield crowd made him feel right at home and he thanked the crowd.
Show started right at 7:30 and with the intermission it ended at around 10:15 or so. Howard Finkel was the announcer. He came out to Guns N Roses “Welcome to the Jungle” to signal the start of the show. Jillian Hall was there and she picked out the kids who got to participate and she started to “sing” before Kane’s entrance music cut her off. All in all a good show.

WWE News: An Update On Chuck Palumbo, The Brian Kendrick, Cena & McCarthy Promoting SNME
August 2, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment
– Since being drafted to Raw, Chuck Palumbo still has yet to make a television appearance on his new brand. Reader Ronzilla sent in the following regarding his encounter with Palumbo at last week’s Raw at the Mohegan Sun… First off I am a HUGE fan of Lordsofpain and I have been for years. I check it religiously everyday. My girlfriend makes fun of me lol.. Anyway I was at Mohegan Sun on Monday and I met Chuck Palumbo. He was shopping with his son ( i belive it was his son ) in a music shop and I got a chance to talk to him. He said he hasn’t been on raw because he has been having nagging shoulder injuries and his knee has been bothering him.. I told him that I enjoyed the stuff he did with Jamie Noble and he didn’t seem like he was too pleased with how it came about.. He said “It’s all politics.. That’s all it is..” Referring to his angle with Jamie Noble. I told him that I heard about Noble and HHH/HBK being friends backstage ( I read it off of your site of course ) so it looks to be true.. Anyway Chuck was a really nice guy and HUGE in person. Just some info thought you guys might like to know!! peace out, RONZILLA.
– SmackDown star Brian Kendrick is now going under the name “The Brian Kendrick”. WWE.com changed his profile to reflect his new ring name. You can see the updated profile at this link.
– John Cena & actress Jenny McCarthy did media this past week to promote tonight’s Saturday Night’s Main Event telecast, as well as Generation Rescue, to inform and raise money to combat Autism. The two appeared on Extra, Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood last night. They also appeared on Fox & Friends on the Fox News Channel this morning.

WWE House Show Results from Wheeling, West Virginia 7/26/08
July 27, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment
Report sent in by Mr. Tito
WWE made an appearance back to one of the original suburbs of Pittsburgh and near the heart of Mr. Tito country, in Wheeling, West Virginia, just in time to take in the Upper Ohio Valley Italian Festival which was going on the same streets surrounding WesBanco Arena.
In its prime, WWE would produce standing room only crowds for Raw, with full capacity being around 13,000. Estimated attendence would be roughly 6,000. Ticket prices were 20.00 upper deck, 30.00 mid level, and 45.00 for around the ring.
Notes from the show.
Pre-Match- Our supposed WWE Event host, Layla, roamed the crowd and gave a family of 4 from the upperdeck the chance to sit in 4 ring side seats. Also announced was that the fans had the chance to text and decide the stipulation for the triple threat championship match for later that night between JBL, Bautista, and CM Punk. Choices included Falls count anywhere or No DQ.
First match-
Lance Cade vs. D-Lo Brown.
D-Lo got a surprisingly nice crowd pop being his first appearance since the Nation of Domination days.
D-Lo Brown wins with the Frog Splash.
Post match, host Layla came down and looked for a volunteer to be a special guest manager for an upcoming match. She picked a little boy from ringside and away they went to the back.
Second Match-
Matt Stryker vs. Johnny Curtis
Stryker got nice heel heat after a stellar mic performance about facing a rookie who will be learning the ropes.
Curtis with the crossbody for the win. Stryker ran away down the aisle. Wish he could see some face time with the big boys down. Could be devastating if paired with Jericho and his “you all are fools to believe in HBK gimmick.”
Third Match-
Divas tag team bout.
Kelly Kelly and her shiny silver chaps with Mickie James vs. Katie Lea Burchill and Beth Phoenix
Mickie James did her usual hop skip and jump routine, but this time dragging the special guest manager along with her. Looked like a rag doll being thrown around. The kid was very excited and again, a nice gesture from WWE to get the crowd involved.
Action packed bout which saw Kelly Kelly attempt a cross body only to be caught in mid air by the Glamazon which set up a Mickie James drop kick help send both out of the ring, and Mickie’s DDT of doom on Katie Lea for the win.
Post match-
Santino Marella came to the ring to comfort Beth after the loss. As he always does, he grabbed the mic and declared that if Wheeling was going to have a Santino Marella Festival (referring to the Italian Festival on the streets outside the arena) that they should ask for his permission. He then turned his attention to Beth and said that what happened Monday made him not sleep for the past week. And it was out of pure excitement. Look for this lovefest to carry on. So he wanted to challenge a soon to be retiring wrestler, and reveal his new move the Mazzarati Crush, to prove he won’t let the kiss be a distraction to his wrestling.
Out comes Hacksaw Jim Duggan to welcome arms from the crowd. Plenty of Hoooooooo’s and U.S.A chants going around. Duggan grabbed the mic and did his bit and the crowd ate it up with a spoon. And he told Marella he can’t tell Duggan when to retire, and Marella looked at Phoenix who was at ringside and laughed a lil but as soon as the bell rung, he turned around and got hit by Duggan’s 3 point stance clothesline in the shortest match I’ve seen this side of the Bushwackers in the rumble.
Post match-
Phoenix picks Marella off the ground, plants two hands on him, and bends him over her knee and plants a kiss. Then carried him to the back on her shoulder.
Intermission.
Layla came out to remind the crowd that the voting was almost over. Which doesn’t really make sense to vote, because it was pretty much announced as a No DQ match on the radio. Out came Jamie Noble and he said since he was in his home state that there was nobody better to show her around and asked her for a date. She said okay, but don’t get any ideas or get into any fights. Kane’s music hits. As well as an impromtu match.
Fifth Match-
Noble vs. Kane
Almost as quick as the previous. Kane with a choke slam early.
Sixth Match-
I.C. Title
Paul Burchill vs. Kofi Kingston
Kingston is still a fresh babyface, so the crowd was a little leary to get behind him. Finally did towards the end of the match. Kingston with his Trouble in Paradise kick for the win. And I still can’t help but laugh when I think of Michael Cole saying “You know, when he says BOOM BOOM BOOM.” So in Kingstons defense, BOOK BOOK BOOK!
Seventh Match-
6 Man Tag
Jericho w/ Lance Cade. Jericho is masterful on the mic. Always a joy to see it.
DiBiase and Rhodes. There were a couple Cody has a Wisp signs. Loved it.
vs.
John Cena and Cryme Tyme.
They now all do a pose similar to the jerk, cling weightroom and then give the word life before the match.
Good action, which saw Cena pulling a Y2Jerk sign from the crowd into the ring. Finish was set up by Rhodes hitting his DDT on Cena. JTG hitting his spinning neckbreaker on Rhodes, DiBiase hitting his MillionDollar Dream Russian Leg sweep on JTG, Shad hitting DiBiase out of the ring, Jericho hitting the codebreaker on Shad, and then Cena hitting the FU on Jericho, then drop toe hold a charging DiBiase into the STFU for the tap out.
Final Match
Championship
Announced it was a No DQ bout.
JBL vs. Bautista vs CM Punk
JBL came out first, and issued some very serious remarks about not wanting to be in a toilet hole, third country state like West Virginia, and challenged every Redneck to get in the ring. Then singled out a decent looking blonde at ringside and said that she may be the best WV has to offer, but she couldn’t be a garbage woman at Score’s in NY. Finish was set up by a Bautista spine buster on JBL, then Punk grabbing a chair that JBL brought into the ring, Punk with a chair shot to Bautista’s back, which sent him out of the ring. Punk covers JBL and gets the win.
Post match-
Bautista stares at Punk kicks him and Bautista Bombs him.
Top Heel Heat-
1. JBL
2. Jericho
3. Santino Marella
Top Pops
1. John Cena
2. Bautista/Punk

WWE Great American Bash Results 7/20/08
Report by Jason Powell and ProWrestling.net
From Long Island, N.Y. at Nassau Coliseum
The show opened with a video that recapped the top storylines.
Fireworks exploded on the stage.
Jim Ross introduced the show.
1. Zach Ryder and Curt Hawkins defeated John Morrison and The Miz, Finlay and Hornswoggle, and Jesse and Festus in a four-way match to win the WWE Tag Titles in 9:06. Festus flipped everyone else left the ring. The tag champs grabbed Hornswoggle and threw him back in. Hornswoggle rolled up his sleeves and acted like he was going to face Festus, then turned around and dove at the tag champs. At 6:30, Finlay hit the Celtic Cross on Ryder, but Hawkins broke up the pin attempt. Later, Festus entered the ring and cleared most of the wrestlers from the ring. He tagged in Jesse, who went up top for a rocket launcher, but Hawkins swept his leg out. Jesse crashed to the mat and Hawkins made the pin to help his team capture the tag titles.
2. Shelton Benjamin pinned Matt Hardy for the U.S. Title in 9:40. Ross said no U.S. Champion in history has lost his title at the Bash. He also noted that Benjamin could become the 21st person in history to wear the U.S. and Intercontinental Titles. Early in the match, Hardy tried to skin the cat, but Shelton nailed him with a sliding kick to the back. Hardy received a Cena-like reaction in that the women and kids cheered for him, while the men chanted for Shelton. Good back and forth action and the live crowd was into it. Hardy missed a moonsault late. Shelton hit his finisher and scored the clean pin.
Highlights aired from Monday of Todd Grisham interviewing C.M. Punk after Raw. He talked about all the things his critics said he’d never do, but pointed out his name is on the World Hvt. Title. He said he’s not the biggest, strongest, fastest, and sometimes not even the smartest. He said you don’t have to be 6-6 and chiseled to win titles. He said he’s in the business of proving people wrong. He said his name is C.M. Punk and he’s the World Hvt. Champion.
Highlights aired from Smackdown of the Edge video and Vickie Guerrero’s reaction. A mobile pole asked voters to choose whether they sympathize more with Edge or Vickie.
3. Mark Henry (w/Tony Atlas) beat Tommy Dreamer (w/Colin Delaney) for the ECW Title in 5:30. Mike Adamle and Tazz were on commentary. Henry dominated Dreamer early, but missed a splash at 4:00. A short time later, Dreamer went to the second rope. Colin joined him on the ring apron and they both played to the crowd. Colin grabbed Dreamer’s arm and threw him to the mat. Henry slammed Dreamer and pinned him.
A Chris Jericho and Shawn Michaels video aired.
4. Chris Jericho defeated Shawn Michaels via ref stoppage in 18:20. Michael Cole and Jerry Lawler are on commentary for the first time tonight. Lance Cade did not accompany Jericho to the ring. Long staredown to start the match. The fist eight minutes of the match were mat based and the crowd wasn’t very vocal. At 9:00, Jericho caught HBK on the ropes. However, Michaels fought him off and pushed him to the mat. HBK followed up with a top rope elbow and tried to pump up the crowd for Sweet Chin Music. Cade ran out. Michaels held onto the ropes and kicked Cade. Jericho went for the Codebreaker, but HBK held on to the ropes. A short time later, Jericho charged Michaels, who flipped him over the top rope and onto Cade. HBK hit a moonsault off the top rope onto Jericho and Cade at ringside. At ringside, Jericho elbowed Michaels in his bad eye. When both men returned to the ring, HBK’s eye was a bloody mess. Jericho’s eyes lit up when he spotted the bad eye. He punched Michaels. The ref stepped in and asked Shawn if he was okay. Later, as the ref scolded Jericho for targeting the eye, Cade caught Michaels with a boot to the head. Michaels was pleading with the ref not to stop the match. Michaels caught Jericho out of nowhere in the crossface, but Jericho powered out of it. The ref hovered over Michaels, who was a bloody mess. He grabbed Jericho’s trunks and climbed to his knees. Jericho shoved him down and hit him with repeated forearms to the eye. The ref stepped in and called for the bell. Trainers hit the ring and tended to HBK.
A Summer Slam ad featured Chris Jericho dressed up like Indiana Jones, and other WWE performers in movie mode. The narrator hyped the event as the biggest blockbuster of the summer.
At ringside, Ross and Foley discussed HBK’s injury and then transitioned into an interview with Edge. “Triple H, what kind of a man—what kind of a pervert—puts a camera in another man’s hotel room?” he asked. Edge said he no longer has personal life. He said Hunter ruined his life and now he’s going to ruin Hunter’s by taking the WWE Title.
5. Michelle McCool defeated Natalya via submission for the WWE Divas Title in 4:45. Ground based match with both women going for submissions early. Natalya grabbed McCool’s hand and leg and stretched her around the ring post until the ref counted four. McCool locked in the Brazilian heel hook. Natalya tried to roll out of it, but she eventually tapped. Afterward, Eve and Cherry ran out and celebrated with McCool.
While the women were in the ring celebrating, Chris Jericho walked onto the stage and interrupted. He told the crowd to keep their ticket stubs because Shawn Michaels’ career was over. He said the trainer told him that HBK has a detached retina. “Shawn Michaels’ career is over,” he said. He said it’s good to know that sometimes the wicked are punished.
A Ric Flair DVD commercial aired.
A video recapped C.M. Punk’s Money in the Bank win, the World Title win, and his run-in with Batista from Monday night.
6. C.M. Punk fought Batista to a Double DQ in a World Hvt. Championship match at 11:10. Cole and Lawler on commentary for the Raw match. Cole said he thinks this is the first time in history that the champion enters the match as the underdog. Punk went for an early roll up, but Batista didn’t budge. A short time later, Punk dove through the ropes onto Batista at ringside. At 7:15, Punk hit a high knee in the corner. He followed up with a kick and scored a nearfall. He went for the GTS a short time later, but Batista punched him and powered out. At 9:30, Batista caught Punk’s leg. Punk punched him twice and hit him with a spinning back fist. Batista backed into the ropes and came back with a clothesline. A short time later, Batista hit the spinebuster at ringside. Punk was out. Batista picked him up and rolled him back into the ring. Kane showed up out of nowhere. He rammed Batista into the ring post and then caught him with the big boot. Kane continued to rough up Batista at ringside and the referee called for the bell. Kane entered the ring and chokeslammed Punk. He grabbed his burlap sack and started to leave the ringside area. Kane stopped and asked, “Is he alive” and then turned and kicked the camera man. Lillian Garica announced that the ref had ruled the match a double DQ. Inside the ring, Punk lifted the title over his head. Batista kicked Punk in gut and then hit the Batista Bomb. Cole said he believes Batista was on his way to becoming the World Champion before Kane interfered.
A John Cena and JBL video aired.
7. JBL pinned John Cena in a parking lot brawl in 17:00. The live crowd watched the video monitor for this match. The match was held in the backstage area. There were several cars and trucks parked in a circle. JBL’s limo pulled up and he got out wearing a suit and carrying a tire iron. JBL called out for Cena and looked around for him. JBL stood on the hood of a car. A car engine revved and Cena drove a car into the car that JBL was standing on. JBL climbed onto the hood of the car as Cena slammed into the car. Cena slammed the hood of a car on JBL and then hooked his nuts up to a pair of jumper cables. Cena touched the other end of the cables to the car battery and it sparked, while JBL shook as if his testicles were being fried. JBL made his comeback. He hit Cena with punches and slammed his head onto the hood of a car. They stood on the hood of a car and JBL hit Cena with a spinning neckbreaker for a nearfall. Later, JBL placed Cena in the backseat of a car and slammed the door shut. He walked over to his limo and grabbed a gas can. JBL doused Cena’s car with gas and pulled out a lighter while the ref pleaded with him to stop. JBL lit the car on fire and the referee started yelling, “Fire!” With the car engulfed in flames, several workers showed up and used fire extinguishers to put the fire out. Once the fire was out, Cena climbed out unscathed and attacked JBL. He put JBL in the front seat of a car, and then sat down behind the wheel of a forklift. He slammed the forklift into the car and lifted it into the air with JBL still inside. Cena drove the forklift and the car into the arena. JBL stumbled out of the car and Cena attacked him on the stage. Cena dominated JBL. He stood over him and delivered the Five Knuckle Shuffle. When JBL got to his feet, Cena picked him up for the FU. He looked at the car he brought out with the forklift. He walked toward the car, but JBL fought off Cena and then threw him through the windshield. JBL covered Cena on top of the car and scored the pin.
Afterward, they aired a replay with a shot of Cena slamming the car into the other car that JBL was standing on top of. Back live, both guys sold the battle. JBL had to be helped to the back by two referees. Cena was still lying on the car and his arms were cut from the glass. The refs tried to help him, but he brushed them off and walked on his own.
At ringside, Ross and Foley revealed the results of the poll. 55 percent of the fans sympathized with Edge, while 45 percent of the fans sympathized with Vickie.
Highlights aired of the Edge and Vickie wedding angle with Triple H crashing the party.
Eve approached Hunter as he was walking in the back and asked if he regretted spoiling the wedding reception. “Eve, do I look like I guy who regrets anything,” he said…
8. Triple H pinned Edge to retain the WWE Title in 16:45. Ross and Foley questioned whether Edge could use the negative energy from the wedding reception and use it to his advantage in the match against Hunter. Edge ran at Hunter and attacked him as soon as the bell rang. It was a back and forth brawl both in and out of the ring for the next eight minutes. Lots of punches. At 10:00, Edge DDT’d Hunter at ringside. The ref started the 10 count. Ross and Foley worked hard to put over the intensity of the match the desire both men have to hold the title. At 13:30, Edge set up for the spear. He charged Hunter, who turned it into a spinebuster that popped the live crowd. At 15:00, both men were lying on the mat and the referee was counting. Alicia Fox (the wedding planner and Edge’s make out partner) ran out and grabbed the WWE Title belt. She placed it in the ring near Edge. Vickie Guerrero ran out and attacked the woman. Vickie got the better of the battle, climbed inside the ring, and picked up the belt. The referee tried take it from her, but she shoved him aside. The wedding planner ran in and had a cat fight with Vickie. They both stood up and Edge tried to spear Alicia and/or the referee (he was trying to pull the women apart), but they moved and Edge speared Vickie. Edge looked distraught. Moments later, Hunter Pedigree’d Edge and scored the pin. Hunter celebrated the title win after the match and the show ended with him posing with the title on the stage.

Fatal Four Way WWE Tag Team Championship #37
Festus hits the flying biscuit on Ryder and takes out Miz and Morrison. Jesse goes to the top but Ryder steals the pin on Jesse.Winners & new WWE Tag Team Champions – Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder
UNIONDALE, N.Y. – After spending months in Edge’s shadow, Curt Hawkins & Zack Ryder finally made a name for themselves – and they did it in big fashion by winning the WWE Tag Team Championship in their own hometown of Long Island, NY.
Going into the WWE Tag Team Championship Fatal Four Way, the now-former champions, John Morrison & The Miz, had done a lot of talking in their weekly WWE.com show, “The Dirt Sheet.” (Watch) The duo claimed they had no competition for their gold, and poked fun at just about anyone and everyone in WWE. But on this night, words were not enough to stop Hawkins & Ryder as the team claimed gold when Hawkins pinned Jesse.
Taking out the former champions was challenge enough for Hawkins & Ryder, but they also had to worry about six additional Superstars who were hungry for gold.
Jesse and Festus have been making great strides on SmackDown, with the corn-fed colossus Festus manhandling many an opponent. Despite a valiant effort, they could not find a way to win on this night.
And finally, the Belfast brawler Finlay & Hornswoggle had been at odds with The Miz & Morrison for weeks, often the butt of their “Dirt Sheet” jokes. Although they got in some good shots of their own tonight, they could not capitalize at the right moment.
With Hawkins & Ryder’s victory, championship gold is once again brought home to “The Family.”
WWE News: When You Can Catch The Supplemental Draft, Jim Ross Apologizes, Cole Comments
June 25, 2008 by admin · Leave a Comment
– The administrator of the WWE Fan Nation site announced that the WWE Supplemental Draft will be taking place tomorrow at noon on WWE.com. The WWE Fan Nation plans on holding a live blog with Howard Finkel and other WWE.com editors to give their expert analysis of the draft picks live as they happen. No other details have been revealed about the draft. They wrote: “The amount of picks and the format of the Supplemental Draft are still unknown, but we’ll be holding a Live Blog here on WWE Fan Nation tomorrow as all the action unfolds.” Last year’s Supplemental Draft featured 13 draft picks, so you can probably expect the roughly same amount tomorrow. And just a few moments ago, WWE put up an announcement on the front page of the site regarding the draft. For their preview, click here.
– Jim Ross has posted a follow-up blog on his website apologizing for his comments in his first blog earlier today. Ross wrote: “Changes in one’s life take some adjusting to especially at my stage of the game. This week I received an unexpected change in my professional address. Within hours of writing an emotional blog, I am positively moving on. I am going to do all I can to make Smackdown the best program the WWE produces.” He also added: “The abruptness of the “trade” shocked me. I most likely responded in a non professional way in the eyes of some fans. That’s their prerogative and each has the right to their opinion, As do I. Not to be cliche, but wrestling has been great to my family and me. I owe it to the business to “man up” and to kick ass on Smackdown. That’s my plan. My emotions are what they are and I will not apologize for my candor or honesty. My feathers were ruffled…poor me. I still bring bona fide passion to every broadcast and fully expect to deliver come show time.” Ross closes his post by saying: “For those of you that were offended by my earlier rant I apologize. For those that think “old J.R.” can’t get the job done, I suggest you sit back and watch. I wish my good pal The King and Michael Cole great success but my professional priority is to help Smackdown kick ass. In more ways than one, “the game is on.” You can read the blog in its entirety at this link.
– WWE.com posted an after-Raw video interview of Michael Cole and Jim Ross talking about the announcer swap. Even WWE.com is acknowledging Ross’ unhappiness regarding the move. They wrote: “Michael Cole and J.R. talk about swapping announce teams with the Draft – a move that made Ross none too happy.” You can see what they have to say at this link.
